Japanese steel knives and tools, like the ones we sell from , benefit from a few simple care routines to maintain their finish and ensure years of use.
Made from the seeds of Camellia oleifera (same family as Camellia and tea), Camellia oil is the traditional Japanese choice for protecting tools from rust. Use it when cleaning, and as a regular protective coating.
It leaves a lovely deep, non-oily finish, and it's odorless and tasteless, making it suitable for kitchen knives too.
